2022.01.17 00:16 Fear_Sama Why do when I report an email scam, more instantly appear?
The more emails that I report as phishing scams, the more than instantly appear.
I delete 1, another appears within a minute! Next thing I know. 6 more appear in my inbox the next morning after I go to sleep!
The more I report them, the more arrive! It doesn't matter even if I just instantly empty my spam folder without ever touching them!
I once read somewhere that the best thing to do is either get a new email or just leave them alone. Eventually the influx almost completely disappears. And that works, but it's frustratingly long.
Is there any other way to handle this, because I like to keep this particular email very clean and it drives me nuts when there is even a SINGLE email in my junk folder that I haven't checked/removed etc. Or maybe that's just my partial OCD driving me nuts.

2022.01.17 00:16 AppointmentLong4228 I have a little bit of a controversial question.
My question is, anytime there are two close friends in a movie, show, or game, why are they instantly assumed gay?
Like, the moment one guy in a show says "your cool" and Instantly the internet is making fan art of them doing...stuff.

2022.01.17 00:16 Erveon My first PC game has 737k downloads and an 87% positive review rating. Here are some things I've learned.
Buckle up, this is a long one!
I've released my first game just over a year ago. In this time, I have learned a lot of things about building and releasing games that I'd like to share with you and hopefully help some people with.
Intro: I lead the tiny team at Oddshot Games - we made Slapshot: Rebound, a free-to-play multiplayer hockey game. I quit my job in February 2020 (Quite the timing!) to work on the game, taking a gap year to work on this passion project. I figured I'd just find a new job when my savings ran out - little did I know it became the new job.
Preface: I am by no means an all-knowing expert, these are learnings from my personal experience. Some things may work for you, some may not. I'm open to feedback if you disagree with something. This post is geared towards people that are still working on their first release or trying to find their bearings.
Your game isn't just your game build Something that I see a lot of fellow developers doing is only focusing on the game build - and while these games can be superb, a lot of the potential can be wasted if that's the only thing they do.
Your game isn't just your game, it's its community, its personality, its developers, its socials, its metrics - really everything that has to do with your game.
A huge chunk of my time isn't spent in Unity, it's spent supporting, growing and being a part of the community, having super boring but important meetings with companies that can help us elevate the game, creating back-end services to help us manage and moderate the game etc. I can very confidently say that just two boring meetings that I've had have drastically changed the outcome for Slapshot.
It's never too early for playtesting From the very first playable builds, I invited people to play and provide feedback and I spent most of development working and iterating based on feedback of these players, spending countless hours tweaking the smallest of values to maximize the fun-factor of the concept.
I created several ways for people to tweak their game and host their own servers to provide better feedback on what they liked. You're not just making a game for yourself, you're making it for an audience. Get it in their hands ASAP.
On the user experience side of this - a fun thing to do is to put the game in someone's hands and not give any direction at all. Just observe. What they do (or try to) might surprise you and lead you to make some really important changes to your onboarding or even entire game. Follow the fun.
Your marketing efforts may just be an echo chamber This is a very tricky one that I've seen end in disaster for some games. When posting clips of your game to subreddits like this one or on Twitter, you're most likely 'marketing' to other game developers. While we care about what you're doing, we're most likely not your actual audience.
Find your audience where they hang out! For Slapshot, we worked with the mods of /hockey to organize events, worked with influencers that mostly play hockey games etc. A good thing to note here is that nobody likes shameless self-promotion, try to provide value relevant to the community you're targeting.
Your game will never be finished, and that's okay There will always be more to work on and improve. At some point, you need to accept that even though your game will never be finished, it is good enough to release.
When is that exactly? I have no idea. I still don't even know when would make a good time to come out of Early Access for Slapshot, but I know that if I had waited until I was happy with the game to release at all, it still wouldn't have seen the light of day.
That being said, don't release a buggy mess. Just. Don't. If you have time constraints and need to release by a certain point, make sure the content you have is as bug-free as possible and polished. It's much easier and a better look to add new content to a good foundation than to try to save face by fixing a million bugs.
It's nothing personal Some people have an easier time than others receiving feedback. Just always remember that people are not criticizing you, they are criticizing your game. Why? Because they want it to be better, too.
In the cases where people don't provide constructive feedback or obviously just don't like the game, that's okay too - that's why there's so many different kinds of games. Everyone has their own interests, you can't make a game that everyone likes. Focus on your audience.
Finally, enjoy your work Seriously. Motivation will have its ups and downs, sometimes you'll feel overloaded, you might not enjoy it anymore at times if you're overworking yourself. Take a breather. Chill. We are here because we are passionate about games and creating these worlds for others to experience and enjoy. Make sure the process is something you can enjoy too. Games take a lot of time, sweat and some tears but you'll get there as long as you enjoy it and keep going, one foot in front of the other.

2022.01.17 00:16 FireCat3199 Question *spoilers*
If Lilith was sentenced to be obliterated for feeding her lover celestial food, and thus lengthening his lifespan, why the frick can Luke and Simon give it out willy nilly to MC and Solomon?
Now Solomon is apparently a crazy long lived sorcerer, so it probably isn't doing so much for his lifespan as he can probably fix anything wrong with himself with magic, but I'm sure it messed with MC's lifespan. Who knows what kind of underlying health issues it could have fixed.
No one even seems to be concerned. So after the Lilith incident did the bid man decide it was a stupid rule and change it? Or mayhap it's because Lilith's decision was for the PURPOSE of curing her lover where as Luke and Simon are just sharing for fun and to be social. Maybe it's a question of intent?
Dose the game ever address this at all.
Fells kinda sucky our girl Lilith was doomed to oblivion for sharing a cookie to heal her lover, but Luke and Simon can throw MC and Solomon a party in the celestial realm with no problems, just saying.

2022.01.17 00:16 Peanut-Bear Scared to play
I have pretty bad anxiety over things, and I've been pretty scared about playing battles 2 cause every youtube talks about meta and how it's lame/boring/etc. But one of my all time favourite towers is meta (Bottom path ninja). Will I get made fun of if I use it? I know it's a dumb question, sorry.

2022.01.17 00:16 CreativeName378 Question about ch 2 main game
Why did keiji vote for kanna? It’s been forever since I’ve played so maybe I’m missing something but iirc keiji was trying to kill sou the entire main game, and then when the options were between him and kanna he voted for kanna? I know it’s because sou was “useful” or whatever but he knew that earlier in the main game when he was trying to get him killed. Did I forget something?
